As the proponents of slow food, I am glad to see that you made sure "crockpot" preceded the word BBQ in the first recipe.

Barbecue is slow food. It is a fine time honored craft, that deserves our respect. And a beef dish that is braised in barbecue sauce is not barbecue.

Ideally I would like to have seen this recipe be called "Crockpot BBQ Sauce Braised Beef" lest anyone get the false impression that meat cooked low and slow in a crockpot could ever truly be considered barbecue. Surely you understand.

Sounds like fun! I've been a Slow Food member (on and off) for ten years. I look forward to meeting everyone. I'll bring a dish and a few bottles of hard cider from Stekar Farm apples.

John, I can't thank you enough for all you are doing for the convivium and the region. Nailing this grant is fantastic. I doubt that anyone would consider it "pork" when there will be beef and lamb involved as well. Neat strategy, there! In your honor we will be planting some Bloody Butcher corn, beefsteak tomatoes, lambsquarters, sangre potatoes, bullsblood beets, lamb's lettuce, blackeyed cowpeas, oxheart carrots, lambsear, and, of course, cut fingerlings. Again, way to go, docsconz!

Hello Blog!

Congratulations on the new SFS website...a special thank you to Beth DellaRocco and of course John Sconzo who seems to get everything going while enjoying the good life...

So it's snowing again but the time changes this weekend and it is time to start populating the greenhouse, or will be soon.

Who's thinking about local summer? Growing a garden? Those first fresh peas?

We've bought most of our seeds but I'm staying very happily at home, enjoying the opportunity to actually be here as opposed to in summer.

Our trip to Yucatan was just right.... some photos on Picasa if you are interested... http://picasaweb.google.com/patsheldon1234

Looking forward to the Chez Sophie dinner... will you be there?
